The West Texas Mesonet is an independent project collaborating with the Atmospheric Science Group and the Wind Science and Engineering Research Center at Texas Tech University. Our first station came online at Reese Center, 12 miles west of Lubbock, in June of 2000. Since that time, our network has grown to 53 stations covering 35 counties in the Texas Panhandle, South Plains, Rolling Plains and eastern New Mexico. Our mission is to provide accurate meteorological data for distribution to a variety of facets in our region including operational meteorology, agriculture and farming, research, and media. We take pride in providing updated, real-time data on this site to serve your specific interests.

Our team is comprised of a Principle Investigator, an Operations Manager, a Research Associate, and a Lead Technician. Together we work to maintain our current network and strive to find ways to expand to new locations in our region. If you have any questions or would like to see any additional products on our website, please contact us and share your thoughts and opinions with us.
