High-based storms moving out of the Permian Basin generated severe downburst winds over portions of Terry and Lubbock counties during the evening hours of June 14th, 2009. The WTM station 2 miles south of Brownfield recorded five-minute sustained winds of 57 mph with a peak gust of 82 mph at 7:05 pm CDT. Additional wind damage occurred in the Wolfforth, Woodrow, Lubbock, and Idalou areas later in the evening.
