During the evening of June 26, strong derecho winds impacted our southwest stations with a 98 mph wind gust recorded at our Seminole site. Internet communications were interrupted at many locations, with multiple communication tower failures in the region. The meteograms below show data from Seminole, O'Donnell, and Seagraves through this event. Click on each for a larger image. Please note that communications with the Seminole station were not restored following the peak gust at 10:35 p.m. LDT. The WTM tower at Seminole survived the event unscathed and additional data will be presented when they are acquired.

Other notable wind gusts occured at Brownfield (59 mph), Plains (62 mph), and Denver City (62 mph).

Significant tree damage was also found at the Park located at the entrance of the Gaines County Country Club.


Damaged garage doors at Lyntegar Electric shed just southwest of Seagraves. Skylights failed allowing doors to collapse inwards.
