Northwest flow storms...again...brought another round of severe weather to eastern New Mexico and parts of Texas on July 18th, 2009. A supercell moved south-southwest out of Deaf Smith and Randall Counties into Castro County during the evening hours of July 18. Severe wind gusts and large hail were reported with this storm as it moved southwest through Castro County. The Castro supercell was anchored on a southwestward moving outflow/cool frontal boundary. Additional storms would develop around sunset on this boundary as it entered Lubbock County. Severe winds would accompany this new line of storms across parts of Lubbock and Hockley counties between 9:30 and 10:00 pm on July 18th, 2009.
